Brush fire near Lake Harney at 4,500 acres

OSTEEN -- Fire crews continue to work the lines around the 4,500-acre fire near the Lake Harney Woods subdivision. Today fire crews will continue to establish and widen lines around this growing fire.

In addition to the main fire, crews are plowing lines around a separate fire about a half-mile west of the large fire. This fire, which covers about 150 acres, began when a burning ember from the original fire was picked up by wind and traveled over the fire line. This fire is deep in the woods and not threatening any structures or roads.

NEW SMYRNA BEACH -- Danny Veltri proved tonight before a nationwide telvision audience he could stand the heat in the ultimate kitchen -- FOX reality TV's "Hell's Kitchen -- winning the national recognition as top chef and $250,000 richer.

Congratulations Danny Boy, you did it!

Danny Veltri is an American hero. He's one hell of a chef, literally. Anyone who could survive FOX reality TV's "Hell's Kitchen" certainly deserves our praise.

With all of the misery around us -- swine flu, car dealerships closing, political sniping in Washington and Tallahassee politicians playing musical chairs -- Thursday night was Danny's night to shine. For his Edgewater family to shine and for New Smyrna Beach to shine. And what a great way for Flip Flops to shine, just four weeks in its new beachside locale.

It was President Truman who once bemoaned ""If you can't take the heat, get out of the kitchen." Well, what greater heat for Danny Boy than "Hell's Kitchen" and that demanding London chef Gordon Ramsay?
