Rain forces Cudas football game to Saturday

NEW SMYRNA BEACH -- Are you ready for some football? Well, if you're a Cudas fan, you'll have to wait until Saturday because tonight's game against Pine Ridge is cancelled because of heavy rain over the best two days that has drenched the field at New Smyrna Beach Stadium. Instead the 7 p.m. game with Pine Ridge will be played at Pine Ridge Stadium in Deltona. In the meantime, you can enjoy highlights from New Smyrna Beach High's home opener against Astronaut of Titusville.

NEW SMYRNA BEACH -- The Cudas take to the field tonight with second-year coach Lance Jenkins against the Titusville Astronaut squad at New Smyrna Beach Stadium. If Tuesday night's attendance at New Smyrna Beach High School for athletics night was any indication, tonight's home opener should be rocking.

 

Lagano wins Jalapeno 250 at Daytona

With restrictor plate racing, drivers raced around the high banks of Daytona International Speedway in two-car tandems with "the big one" coming on the final lap in the Nationwide Series race.

DAYTONA BEACH -- Joey Logano took the checkered flag Friday in a last-lap crash-marred Jalapeno 250 at Daytona International Speedway.

Logano, whose No. 20 Joe Gibbs Racing Toyota rolled off 40th due to an unapproved adjustment after qualifying, survived a spin in lap 27 and paired up with Jason Leffler with 30 laps to go.

DAYTONA BEACH -- NASCAR Sprint Cup Series driver Brian Vickers is known to fly around the high banks of Daytona International Speedway in a race car so when he skydived from a plane Wednesday he gave new meaning to flying on the track.

Vickers skydived solo into the legendary infield of the "World Center of Racing" from a jumping height of 5,000 feet.

Fishstock 2011 tourney at Riverside Park makes many fishing enthusiasts happy
