City engineeer 'guest walker' for Ormond Beach's manager walk and talk on June 28

ORMOND BEACH -- City Engineer John Noble will be the City Manager Ed Kelley's “guest walker” 8 a.m. Friday, June 28, and he will speak about the current utility, stormwater and roadway improvements underway in the Hand Avenue area along with the added park benefits that will result from the project.

“Walking with the Manager" will begin at the public parking area for Central Park located on the north side of Hand Avenue and east of Oak Brook Drive. The walk will be approximately 2 miles.

ORMOND BEACH -- A former accountant who bragged of spending $7,000 of the thousands of dollars she alledgedly pilfered from her employer while working as an accountant, has been arrested on theft charges after being taken into custody in North Carolina, a Volusia County Sheriff's official said.

According to the minutes of the April 2 Ormond Beach City Commission meeting, the mayor said Stockton, Calif., recently became the largest city to file for bankruptcy in the U.S. Kelley said Stockton was almost a billion dollars in debt and was driven to that primarily by unfunded pension liabilities.

ORMOND BEACH -- State Attorney R.J. Larizza will lead a distinguished panel of presenters at the 2013 Circuit 7 Domestic Violence Summit to be held Friday at the Calvary Christian Center, 1687 W. Granada Blvd.

Assistant State Attorney Michele Simonsen and Apopka Police Capt. Jerome Miller will join LaRizza in presenting a workshop, entitled "Effective Investigations/Evidence for Court," as part of the overall domestic violence summit.

Ormond Beach cops: Argument between adult brothers leads to one stabbing the other

ORMOND BEACH -- An argument between two brothers Thursday turned violent when one stabbed the other in the face and ear, police said.

Here is a synopsios of what happened in the 3:20 p.m. inccident at the Bermuda Estates Apartments, 10,000 St. George Road No. 23, as described by Ormond Beach Police spokesman Lt. Kenny Hayes: Patrol units found 30-year-old Andrew Taylor on the complex grounds bleeding from wounds to the face and ear. Andrew’s brother, 32-year-old Eric Taylor, fled the area on foot prior to police arrival. The younger Taylor who was not cooperating with the investigation was transported to Ormond Memorial Hospital for treatment. Police located Eric Taylor nearby at the Walmart store and apprehended him after a brief foot chase.

Eric Taylor was charged with one count of aggravated battery -- domestic violence.
