NFL Draft shocker Tim Tebow to Broncos in 1st round draws cheers at NSB's Pub 44

Lyndsey Broughman and Ashley Smith, both 22 and New Smyrna Beach residents, who work at NSB's Pub 44, cheer the Denver Broncos' first round selection of Tim Tebow, the Heisman-winning quarterback from the University of Florida, chosen 25th overall  in the 2010 NFL Draft.

NEW SMYRNA BEACH -- It was the cheer heard round New Smyrna Beach. Well, OK, maybe not that loud, but Pub 44 co-workers Lyndsey Broughman and Ashley Smith were pretty excited about the Denver Broncos' first round selection of Tim Tebow, the Heisman-winning quarterback of the Florida Gators, chosen 25th overal in the 2010 NFL Draft.

Daytona International Speedway track to be repaved in July

DAYTONA BEACH -- NASCAR officials announced Saturday at the Talladega International Speedway that the repaving of Daytona International Speedway will be moved up to July 4, right after the running of the Coke Zero 400, and almost a year ahead of schedule.

Jeremy Johnston wins 2010 East Coast Scholastic Surfing Championships

NEW SMYRNA BEACH -- The 2010 East Coast Scholastic Surfing Championships concluded Wednesday in 3- to 5-foot surf at New Smyrna Beach Inlet with Jeremy Johnston taking the Open Shortboard title and UNCW taking home the Tag Team title.

Jenkins named football coach for New Smyrna Beach High

Lance Jenkins, 5-5 in his first and only season at Jensen Beach in Palm Beach County, returns to New Smyrna Beach to coach the NSB High 'Cudas. He replaces Rocky Yocam who stepped down earlier this year. The 'Cudas advanced to the playoffs this past season before bowing out to eventual state champion Dwyer High School of Palm Beach Gardens, 42-6, in December.

NEW SMYRNA BEACH -- After nearly a decade's abscence, Lance Jenkins is returning to the sidelines of 'Cudas football as the new head coach.

DAYTONA BEACH -- The NASCAR Camping World Truck Series once again provided fans ith a thrilling finish as the first 10 trucks to take the checkered flag in the NextEra Energy Resources 250 did so within .500 seconds of each other.

Leading the pack was the No. 17 Toyota of Timothy Peters, who captured his first win at historic Daytona International Speedway and the second NASCAR Truck Series win of his career.
