Wishing for a warm Christmas

I'm dreaming of a warm Christmas, not like the cold days we've had of late. Where the sun is glistening and the temperature is blistering, just like it was a couple weeks ago.

I hate cold weather. I hate bronchitis and asthma that comes with it. I moved to the Sunshine State because of the warmth. The weather forecasters say it should hit the 70s by Christmas. That's more to my liking. It just doesn't seem like Christmas this year, any way. At least not the way the economy is going. It just seems so trivial shopping for gifts.

Last minute Christmas shopping brisk at NSB Walmart plaza

New Smyrna Beach -- A shopper at the Walmart on State Road 44 in New Smyrna Beach hopped back and forth between moving carts as she tried to decide between a cross necklace and a heart-shaped one.

Noticing they were just $5 each, she decided to buy both. Nearby, a toddler threw a temper tantrum when his father wouldn't let him get a big plastic firetruck.

Still others hovered around the large DVD bin, trying to decide on the bargain-basement movies that everyone likely has seen before such as "Legally Blonde" and "Rambo, First Blood."
