Daytona Beach rookie cop dead today after collapsing Friday during training described by Chief Craig Capri as 'very light'

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. -- Thomas Coulter, a rookie Daytona Beach police officer died this morning in the intensive care unit at Halifax Hospital after collapsing during physical training Friday described by Daytona Beach Police Chief Craig Capri as "very light," at an 11 a.m. press conference at police headquarters. Coulter was just 25 years old.

DELAND, Fla. - An ex-con from Lake Helen was killed during the early morning hours of Wednesday, Feb. 1, of when he crashed his car while speeding away from a traffic stop, a DeLand official said.

Justin L. Johnson, 26, was identified as the traffic fatality victim.
