KISSISSIMMEE, Fla. -- The Osceola County Sheriff’s Office received reports that one of its deputies had been abusive towards his spouse and was subsequently fired after his arrest on a warrant charging him with domestic battery by strangulation of his spouse.

A jury on Friday found George guilty of Attempted first degree murder with a firearm, which subjects him to Florida's 10-20-life statute, whenever a gun is discharged causing injury, which requires a 25-year-to-life sentence to be imposed. That he's looking at spending the rest of his life behind bars perhaps was a fata com-pleat for this three-time convicted felon.
NSBNews.net photo by Henry Frederick / The Marathon gas station in New Smyrna Beach was robbed by a lone gunman Monday night who shot himself a short time later when police tried to arrest him.
NEW SMYRNA BEACH -- A 24-year-old man was undergoing surgery this morning after suffering a self-inflicted gunshot when police tried to arrest him overnight after he allegedly robbed the Marathon gas station, 620 N. Dixie Freeway.
The gunman was identified as William Redmond who was being treated at Halifax Medical Center in Daytona Beach.
Police received a 9-1-1 call at 9:37 p.m. that a man armed with a gun walked into the Marathon and demanded money, before fleeing in a gold-colored Ford Taurus. Based on a description of the vehicle by the clerk who was unharmed, police spotted it about an hour later in the 300 block of North Orange Avenue.
"When officers attempted to take the suspect into custody, he shot himself in the chest," patrol Sgt. John Kosorok said.

Siblings Ray Greenlaw and Wayne Greenlaw are being held with out bail on first-degree murder charges in Saturday morning's drug-related gunshot slaying in Daytona Beach.DAYTONA BEACH -- Volusia County Sheriff’s investigators have charged two brothers, 54-year-old Ray Greenlaw and 51-year-old Wayne Greenlaw, with murder and other criminal offenses related to today’s melee under the cover of darkness that led to one man being gunned down in the street and a surviving victim undergoing surgery for a machete strike to his left forearm.
Combined, the two brothers fired off more than 26 rounds from a rifle and handgun during the 5:36 a.m.
NEW SMYRNA BEACH -- A 1-year-old child has been transported to Halifax Medical Center in Daytona Beach with non-life threatening injuries earlier in the day Thursday after a neighbor took possession of the child and called authorities.
"The Volusia County Sheriff's Office received information about an injured child in the New Smyrna Beach area and responded to begin an investigation," agency spokesman Brandon Haught said. "Investigators are interviewing family members and possible witnesses to determine how the child was injured."
PONCE INLET, Fla. -- Police Chief Wayne Lurcock died in his home early this morning, the victim of a heart attack. He was 60 years old.
