2 Deltona teens killed 10 days ago, but VCSO has yet to release initial crash report

Brandon Schmid, 17 (shown in the forefront of the image far left, the driver of a 2007 Ford Focus, and his friend, Jordan Golaszewski, 16 (shown in the background), and in the front passenger seat, were both killed Sunday, Nov. 15, when for yet unknown reasons, left the roadway in the 1500 block of Providence Boulevard and rollover over before coming to rest against a tree in the median on Sunday , Nov. 15. A third occupant, 23-year-old  Samuel Bengochea, 23, survived the crash, despite being ejected from the sedan.  Law enforcement responded to the double fatality at 3:23 a.m. 

DELTONA, Fla. -- Two Deltona teens were killed 10 days ago ago in a single-vehicle accident while a third occupant in his early 20s survived, despite being thrown from the vehicle which overturned and came to rest against a tree in the median in the middle of the night.

A 2007 Ford Focus is shown overturned in the median of Providence Boulevard after the driver, Brandon Schmid, 17, apparently hit a tree there after 3:20 a.m. Sunday. He was killed as was a passenger, 16-year-old Jordan Golaszewski. A second passenger, 23-year-old Samuel Bengochea, survived despite being the only one ejected. He's in critical condition at Central Florida Regional Hospital in Sanford.

DELTONA, Fla. -- Two teens -- 16 and 17 -- were killed and a 23-year-old man critically several hours before dawn Sunday when a compact car driven by the 17-year-old struck a tree in the median of of the 1500 block of Providence Boulevard and overturned, an official with the Volusia County Sheriff's Office said.

DELTONA, Fla. -- The Volusia County Sheriff’s Office is seeking the public’s help in locating a 17-year-old Deltona girl with a medical condition who ran away on Friday, an agency spokesman said.

"This isn’t the first time that Brandy Sweat has run away," Sheriff's spokesman Gary Davidon told HeadlineSurfer.com, adding, "She’s considered endangered because Brandy is insulin-dependent and has ended up in the hospital in the past when she failed to take her medication as directed."

The Deltona teen was dropped off at Deltona High School on Friday morning, but failed to return home after school, Davidson said

DELTONA, Fla. -- A man was killed Sunday night in a shooting incident in a Deltona neighborhood.

Volusia County Sheriff’s deputies were dispatched to the scene in the area of 551 N. Floyd Circle near Normandy Boulevard around 9:23 p.m. in response to the shooting.

The victim was pronounced dead at the scene.

"All of the people involved in the shooting are accounted for, and at this time investigators are interviewing them and working to determine the facts and circumstances of the incident," Sheriff's spokesman Andrew Gant told Headline Surfer® just before midnight Sunday.

DELTONA, Fla. -- Volusia County Sheriff’s deputies have located a 14-year-old girl and reunited her with her Deltona family, an agency spokesman said.

Julia T. Burk was last seen around 10:30 p.m. Monday at her family’s house on Cherokee Pride Trail, before she was reported missing this morning, but there was good news after all for the 5 foot-3 teen.

"Julia was located safe and sound just a few minutes after we put out the news alert," Sheriff's spokesman Andrew Gant told Headline Surfer® this afternoon.

DELTONA, Fla. -- Volusia County Sheriff’s deputies are asking for the public’s help in locating a missing and possibly endangered 14-year-old Deltona girl who was last seen at her home Monday night, an agency spokesman said.

Julia T. Burk was last seen around 10:30 p.m. at her family’s house on Cherokee Pride Trail.

"She is believed to be on foot," Sheriff's spokesman Andrew Gant told Headline Surfer®. "Her clothing description is unknown. Her family reported her missing at about 6 a.m. Tuesday after waking up and discovering she was gone."

An empty house was the apparent location for the robbery of a Papa John's pizza deliveryman by eight teenage boys as  shown in this locator map, according to the Volusioa County Flagler Sheriff's Office.

DELTONA, Fla. -- Volusia County sheriff’s deputies tracked down and arrested eight juveniles in connection with the Wednesday afternoon robbery of a pizza delivery driver in Deltona, an agency spokesman said.

Deputies responded around 4:30 p.m. Wednesday after the driver, Colton Reisner, of a local Papa John's, said he was robbed at a house at 1037 Abagail Drive.

Reisner didn’t report any weapons used in the robbery, or any money stolen. He said some of the teens snuck up and threw a blanket or sheet over his head when he knocked on the front door, then took off with pizza, chicken wings and soda. The house was vacant.
