SANFORD, Fla. -- Each year Animal Services receives and investigates dozens of complaints about potential dangerous dogs. Some investigations result in a dog being declared a dangerous dog in accordance with the Florida Statutes, Chapter 767, and the Seminole County Code, Chapter 20.

LAKE MARY, Fla. -- The Seminole County School district has seen a dramatic spike in student enrollment in the past couple of weeks.
Dramatic enough to fill the equivalent of three classrooms, district officials say. The sudden influx comes from families leaving Puerto Rico, many of them to Central Florida since the massive devastation from Hurricane Maria.

SANFORD, Fla. -- School Board Chairwoman Amy Lockhart is all too aware of the suffering of Puerto Ricans with the utter devastation inflicted on the island a week ago by Maria, which made landfall on the commonwealth as a category 4 hurricane.

PORT ORANGE -- A Winter Springs motorcyclist became the fourth Bike Week traffic fatality Monday night in a collision with a car on Dunlawton Avenue at the intersection with North Swallowtail Drive, Port Orange police said.
The biker, Thomas J. Niedziejka, 63, died early this morning, less than eight hours after the crash. The victim was riding his 2012 Harley-Davidson without a helmet westbound on Dunlawton in the center lane when Ruthann K. Mscisz, 68, of Daytona Beach Shores, was turning her 1999 Infiniti 4-door onto Dunlawton after stopping at the intersection and onto Dunlawton, police said.
