DAYTONA BEACH -- Volusia County’s Beach Policy Advisory Board will meet at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 11, at the Volusia County Lifeguard Headquarters and Administration Center, 515 S. Atlantic Ave.

NEW SMYRNA BEACH -- A 75-year-old woman who saw two troopers on the northbound shoulder of I-95 smashed her vehicle into theirs and then the vehicle they had pulled over after she herself pulled over Wednesday with the intention of asking them a question, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

DAYTONA BEACH – With the clock ticking on the life span of the Orange Avenue draw bridge in Daytona Beach, the Volusia County Council earlier today unanimously approved plans to replace it with a  high-rise fixed bridge, replacing the aging structure that’s been servicing traffic since 1954.

PORT ORANGE -- A man and a woman have been charged with breaking into at least 30 vehicles in the city and police here have put out an alert to other area cop shops that might have similar unsolved incidents.
